IchiMaki

This is a design proposal for Ichimaki, a Japanese restaurant franchise in Melbourne. The design intent is to showcase the Japanese culture with a twist of modernity. The preparation and food display counter is cladded in white, black and red PVC panels shaped into sharp abstract shapes while strips of timber panels are used to line the sides of the PVC panels forming an abstract zig-zag pattern. The timber used is symbolical of the traditional Japanese homes and the splashes of red is reminiscent of the red Japanese lanterns hung outside the dwelling.
